While Bert is best known for his longboarding and surfboard design philosophy, Rick brings decades of SUP surfing and shaping experience.
The result is a uniquely balanced charter where both long-boarders and SUP surfers feel equally at home.
Limited to just 9 guests, this intimate 7-night charter combines surfing, exploration and board design culture aboard MY Adora in the Maldives.
This is not a formal coaching camp — it’s something far rarer.
Travel and surf alongside two of the most respected figures in SUP and Surfing more broadly while exploring warm-water reefs, tropical isles, remote atolls and uncrowded waves with an experienced local crew led by SUPSurfTours very own – Big Naan.
Days revolve around surf, conversation, great food and the rhythm of life at sea.
Private suites.
Long sessions.
Sunset drinks on deck.
A week immersed in surf culture and adventure.
Bert Burger is one of the most influential surfboard designers and innovators of the modern surf era — a lifelong surfer, master shaper and the founder of SUNOVA Surfboards.
Growing up along the rugged coastline of Western Australia, Bert shaped his first surfboard as a kid and entered the surf industry professionally at just 14 years old. Decades later, his influence on modern surfboard construction and performance is recognised worldwide. Bert is widely known as the inventor of the revolutionary Parabolic Rail design and was also the co-founder of Firewire Surfboards, helping pioneer the move toward stronger, lighter and longer-lasting surfboards.
Awarded Shaper of the Year in 2007, Bert has spent a lifetime pushing surfboard design forward through a combination of science, engineering and real-world surfing performance. His boards have developed a cult following across surfing, SUP surfing and foiling thanks to their unique feel, durability and performance characteristics.
But beyond the shaping bay, Bert is simply passionate about surfing, travel and sharing knowledge with like-minded people. Whether it’s discussing rail shapes over dinner, analysing board design after a surf, or simply chasing perfect waves, Bert brings decades of experience and insight to every session.
This Maldives charter offers a rare opportunity to travel and surf alongside one of the true innovators of modern surfing culture.
Rick Weeks — known to many around the world as SUPTheCreek — is one of the most respected and relatable personalities in modern SUP surfing.
A lifelong surfer since the 1960s, Rick discovered SUP surfing later in life after injuries pushed him toward a new way of riding waves. What followed became an inspiring journey that has helped countless surfers around the world discover the sport in a more approachable, authentic and enjoyable way.
Known for his infectious stoke, honest board reviews and deep understanding of SUP surf design, Rick has built a huge following through years of sharing real-world experiences, techniques and insights with everyday surfers. His collaboration with SUNOVA led to the development of popular board models including the Creek and Ghost, helping shape some of the most loved SUP surf designs on the market today.
Rick’s approach to surfing is refreshingly genuine — less about ego and competition, more about flow, enjoyment, exploration and connection to the ocean. His passion for helping people better understand equipment, wave selection and surfing technique has made him a hugely respected voice within the global SUP community.
Travelling through the Maldives with Rick is not just about surfing incredible waves — it’s about sharing stories, knowledge, laughs and a genuine love for the lifestyle that surrounds surfing.
At the heart of every unforgettable Maldives journey is the people who bring it to life — and for many of our guests, that person is Big Naan.
Born and raised in the Maldives, Naan brings a rare combination of deep local knowledge, calm professionalism, and genuine island hospitality that simply cannot be replicated. He is not just part of the crew — he is an integral part of the SUPSurfTours team and the experience itself.
From the moment you step aboard, Naan’s relaxed nature, quiet confidence, and effortless understanding of both the ocean and the rhythm of the trip creates an atmosphere that immediately feels welcoming, authentic, and easy.
Behind that laid-back style is years of experience guiding surfers throughout the Maldives’ remote reef systems, hidden atolls, shifting tides, and ever-changing conditions. Whether it’s positioning the boat perfectly for a sunrise session, finding uncrowded waves, organising island visits, or helping guests settle into life aboard Adora, Naan has an incredible ability to make everything feel seamless.
Naan is also the man behind many of the unforgettable images our guests take home.
Having spent years photographing surf trips throughout the Maldives, he has developed an exceptional eye for capturing the true feeling of the experience — crystal-clear waves, glowing sunsets, perfect moments in the lineup, drone perspectives of remote reefs, and the quieter moments in between.
His photography style reflects the same atmosphere we strive to create throughout every Moon Tours journey — relaxed, refined, natural, and deeply connected to the ocean.
What makes travelling with Naan truly special is the authentic connection he offers to the Maldives itself.
From local knowledge and surf forecasting to island culture, hidden locations, food, traditions, and life beyond the resorts, Naan gives guests access to a side of the Maldives few travellers ever experience.
Combined with the comfort of Adora, world-class surf, and our focus on uncrowded luxury-adventure travel, Big Naan helps create the atmosphere that defines a Moon Tours Maldives journey:
Relaxed luxury.
Authentic connection.
World-class waves.
And memories that stay with you long after the trip ends.
The Maldives are unlike anywhere else on earth.
A chain of tiny coral atolls scattered across the Indian Ocean, where warm water, perfect reef passes and island life revolve entirely around the sea.
Days move slowly here.
Sunrise surf sessions.
Long walls peeling across shallow reef.
Afternoons drifting between islands.
Dinner under the stars aboard MY Adora.
For surfers, few places offer this level of consistency, variety and exploration.
A live-aboard charter changes everything.
Rather than being locked to a single resort and a single break, we move with the swell — searching for clean conditions, fewer crowds and the best waves available each day.
It’s a far more relaxed and immersive way to experience the Maldives.
Remote islands.
Empty lineups.
Sunset anchorages.
Life entirely at sea.
While the surf is the focus, life onboard is equally memorable.
Private suites.
Warm evenings on deck.
Snorkelling, island visits, diving, photography and long conversations between sessions.
Whether you surf every day or simply want to experience the Maldives in comfort, the journey itself becomes part of the experience.
Luxury. Exploration. Warm water.
A small group of like-minded surfers aboard one of the finest SUP surf charters in the Maldives.
Before the Maldives, we spent years running SUP Surf Tours in Fiji. And while Fiji has some truly incredible waves, over time I realised it just didn’t fully align with what I wanted to deliver specifically for SUP surfers. Away from the main areas, Cloud Break, Restaurants etc good SUP waves are difficult to find.
SUP Surfing is different.
I’m looking for fuller waves, long rides, more wave count, less crowd pressure and the ability to move around with changing conditions. You need consistency, flexibility and access. I wanted a destination where we could build an entire experience around that philosophy — not just run another surf charter.
Then I stumbled across the Maldives… and eventually, the right boat.
That changed everything.
For the past decade we’ve dedicated ourselves almost entirely to SUP Surfing in the Maldives, and in our opinion there is simply no better place in the world for it.
Stretching nearly 850km from north to south and made up of 26 coral atolls scattered across the Indian Ocean, the Maldives is an incredibly unique country. It’s narrow, remote and almost entirely ocean. The beauty of it is that while the country stretches a huge distance north to south, many of the crossings from east to west can be done by boat in a single day.
That opens up enormous flexibility.
Depending on swell direction, wind and conditions, we can reposition quickly and continue searching for quality surf. Some seasons favour one side of an atoll, some favour another. Some days you wake up to ruler-edged offshore perfection. Other days the mission becomes exploring a new corner of reef or chasing a cleaner swell somewhere else entirely.
That’s why the boat matters so much.
And Adora has become a huge part of what makes these trips special.
She gives us the ability to move, adapt and explore properly — not just sit anchored in one place hoping conditions line up. That flexibility is one of the biggest reasons our trips consistently deliver quality surf across such a wide range of conditions and experience levels.
But the Maldives isn’t just about the waves.
Warm tropical water, endless reef atolls, crystal clear lagoons, marine life, incredible light, calm anchorages and the relaxed rhythm of life at sea all combine to create something that’s hard to explain until you experience it yourself. There’s a simplicity to life onboard that people reconnect with very quickly.
Surf. Eat. Explore. Sleep. Repeat.
Over the years we’ve welcomed surfers from all around the world — Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Israel, France, England, Ireland, Switzerland, Portugal, Brazil, Canada, the USA and beyond. That international mix has become one of the things we’re most proud of. Lifelong friendships are formed on these trips.
Since the beginning we’ve also partnered with SUNOVA surfboards to offer a great range of high-performance Surf SUPs for hire onboard. For many guests that means travelling lighter and easier while still riding some of the best surf SUPs in the world.
At the end of the day, this was never about building a mass-market surf charter business.
It was about creating the kind of SUP surf adventure that we ourselves wanted to experience — small groups, great waves, quality equipment, flexibility, good people and a genuine connection to life on the ocean.
A decade later, that vision really hasn’t changed.
The Maldives has quietly become one of the world’s great warm-water surf destinations.
While the same Southern Ocean swells that light up Indonesia also pulse through the Maldives, the waves here are often more approachable, with long reef walls, warm water and remarkably consistent conditions throughout the season.
What makes the Maldives truly special, however, is not just the quality of the waves — it’s the freedom to explore. With the right boat, local knowledge and flexibility, it’s still possible to find yourself surfing uncrowded reef passes with only a handful of friends in the lineup.
Remote islands.
Warm water.
Endless surf.

The Three Main Surf Regions
Surf Season
April – October
Prime Swell Window
May – September
North Malé is the most established surf region in the Maldives and home to many of the country’s best-known waves. With its concentration of resorts, charter boats and surf infrastructure, it also sees the largest crowds.
When conditions align, the waves here can be exceptional — long mechanical walls, fast sections and heavy barrels wrapping across shallow reef.
South Malé offers a quieter alternative, with fewer crowds and a more relaxed pace as you move further from the capital.
—
Best Surf Season
April – October
Typical Wave Range
2–8 ft
This is where we spend the majority of our time.
The Central Atolls offer an incredible balance of consistency, variety and accessibility, with long peeling reef breaks spread across multiple atolls and exposed to a wide range of swell and wind directions.
Many of these waves are only accessible by boat, which is precisely what makes this region so special.
Rather than competing for crowded lineups, it’s often possible to surf with only a small crew trading waves across flawless reef passes in warm tropical water.
This is the Maldives experience we love most.
—
Best Surf Season
February – April
September – November
The Deep South offers a far more remote surf experience and can produce exceptional waves during the right windows.
However, stronger winds, greater travel logistics and limited SUP-friendly access make these regions less practical for most paddle surfers.
For this reason, we generally focus our attention further north, where the Central Atolls deliver more consistent and versatile conditions ideally suited to SUP surfing.
—

Freedom to move with the swell.
Freedom to avoid crowds.
Freedom to wake up anchored beside perfect waves.
With MY Adora’s range and flexibility, we’re not locked into a single resort or surf zone. Instead, we follow conditions in search of the cleanest surf, best winds and most enjoyable experience possible.
Combined with local knowledge, experienced surf guides and years of operating throughout the region, the result is a Maldives experience built around exploration, flexibility and exceptional waves.
The Maldives is more than just a surf destination.
It’s life at sea.

SUP Surf Adventures in the Maldives
Day One — Arrival in Paradise
Your journey begins the moment you land in the Maldives.
Guests are personally greeted by a Moon Tours or MY Adora representative just outside the international arrivals area before transferring to the yacht and beginning the adventure where we have the options of surfing North and South Male Atolls on the first day, before heading further South into the Central, and even Southern Atolls.
For guests arriving the day prior, we’re happy to assist with recommended accommodation options in Malé or Hulhumalé.
Boarding typically begins late morning from Malé Airport.
Important:
Guests should arrive in the Maldives before 12:30pm on Day One. If your flight arrives later, we recommend arriving a day early to ensure a smooth start to the trip.
If late arrivals cannot be avoided – no problem, just let us know.
—
The 7 Night Experience
Our 7 Night charters typically explore the Central Atolls, often including the beautiful Meemu region when conditions align.
These shorter journeys are ideal for guests wanting an unforgettable Maldives SUP surf experience within a tighter timeframe — combining luxury yacht living, warm tropical water and access to world-class uncrowded waves.
—
The 10 Night and longer Journy’s
With additional days comes greater freedom.
Our 10 Night+ expeditions allow us to travel further south, spend longer at each region and fully follow the best swell and wind conditions available throughout the journey.
When conditions align, we may venture as far as Laamu Atoll — maximising wave opportunities while exploring some of the Maldives’ most remote and beautiful surf regions.
—
Beyond North Malé
While many surf charters remain close to the famous North Malé breaks, we generally move beyond the crowded resort zones in search of quieter, more SUP-friendly waves.
Waves such as Jailbreaks, Sultans, Cokes and Honky’s are iconic for a reason — but they can also become heavily crowded with resort surfers, day boats and charter traffic.
Instead, our focus is the Central and Southern Central Atolls.
Here, boat-access reef passes deliver long walls, clean water and significantly fewer surfers — creating the kind of relaxed, uncrowded sessions that make Maldives SUP surfing truly special.
These regions offer playful, flowing waves ideal for SUP surfing and foiling, while still delivering enough power and shape to keep experienced surfers thoroughly entertained.
—
Follow The Conditions
One of the great luxuries of travelling by private surf charter is freedom.
Freedom to move.
Freedom to change course.
Freedom to wake up beside better waves.
Our journeys are never locked into rigid schedules or fixed routes. Instead, we adapt throughout the trip to follow the best available swell, wind and surf conditions.
With MY Adora’s excellent range, experienced crew and deep regional knowledge, we can travel further than many standard charters — allowing us to escape the crowds and position ourselves where the conditions are best.
—
The Final Morning
Airport transfers are typically arranged around 9:00am on the final day, comfortably connecting with most international departures.
Flights departing after 1:00pm are generally ideal.
For guests requiring earlier departures, private speedboat transfers can usually be arranged. Late checkout options may also be available depending on the yacht schedule and group arrangements.
—

Something For Everyone
Whether you’re surfing every day, travelling with a partner or simply joining for the experience itself, every moment aboard Adora is designed around connection, exploration and relaxation.
From remote tropical islands to unforgettable sunsets at sea, the Maldives offers an experience that stays with you long after the trip ends.
Surfing may bring us here — but life aboard is what makes the journey unforgettable.
The Maldives is renowned for its pristine beaches and turquoise waters, but it’s the vibrant marine life beneath the surface that truly sets it apart. Known among divers as a hidden gem, the Maldives offers stunning coral reefs and an abundance of marine creatures that make it one of the world’s most sought-after dive destinations. With water temperatures a steady 27°C to 28°C year-round, every dive is comfortable and awe-inspiring. Onboard, our dive masters and instructor provide the opportunity to complete a try dive or full dive course in paradise. Certified divers can enjoy unlimited exploration with the support of a Nitrox-equipped Dhoni, while those who prefer to snorkel can join a guided snorkelling tour led by our expert crew. Snorkelling equipment is provided free of charge, and any diving activities or courses can be conveniently paid for at checkout. Whether you’re diving deep or staying near the surface, the Maldives’ warm waters, incredible marine life, and professional crew ensure every moment in the ocean will be unforgettable.
Fishing has long been the lifeblood of island nations, and the Maldives is no exception—widely regarded as one of the ‘fishiest’ places on the planet. While pelagic species are often the prime targets, the reefs and shallows are teeming with exciting game fish that will test your skills. Expect fierce encounters with Bonefish, Barracuda, Grouper, Snapper, and the king of fish, the Giant Trevally (GT)—for which heavy-duty gear is a must if you plan on hauling these beasts onto the boat.
Cruise the deep blue waters along the outer reefs, where Yellowfin Tuna, Dogtooth Tuna, Dolphin Fish, Wahoo, Sailfish, and Marlin roam. With the freedom to fish from all three boats and the enthusiastic support of our crew, anglers can fully embrace the thrill of fishing these bountiful waters. If you’re serious about your fishing game, bring a solid rod and plenty of your favourite lures—because out here, the big ones are waiting.
Step ashore and explore the charm of a local island with a relaxing walk or run. Most islands are small and easy to navigate, featuring sandy roads and tracks that can be circled in 20-30 minutes. Be sure to bring a water bottle and a few dollars, just in case you want to grab a snack or souvenir from a local store.
To respect the local Muslim culture, women should dress modestly, covering their shoulders and knees.
Enjoy some downtime on a deserted, palm-fringed island, where you can stretch your legs with a beach stroll or run. Lay back in the sand with a good book, or do your part by collecting any plastic bottles that have washed ashore.
There’s no need to bring money here—bikinis and alcoholic beverages are welcome on uninhabited islands. Just remember to stay hydrated and bring a water bottle to keep cool under the tropical sun.
Adora offers fully air-conditioned lounges with large flat-screen TVs, as well as in-room TVs for your personal enjoyment. Each TV is connected to an onboard entertainment system, showcasing a variety of movies and music. We also have a hard drive pre-loaded with movies—but feel free to bring your own USB loaded with your favourites to watch in your cabin.
Our small onboard library offers a selection of books and games to enjoy during your downtime. We also encourage book swaps, so feel free to trade a book you’ve finished for something new.
There’s always something fun to play on Adora! Our selection includes board games, playing cards, and Moon Tours favourites like Uno and Monopoly Deal. Whether you’re in the mood for a quick game or an epic showdown, there’s always friendly competition to be found on deck.
We’ve got yoga mats onboard that you’re welcome to use anytime. Stretch, bend, and find your flow wherever it feels right, whether it’s soaking up the gentle breeze on the rooftop sundeck (with options for sun or shade) or in the comfort of the air-conditioned lounge or your cabin.
Take a moment to relax, recharge, and connect, the perfect way to balance out all the excitement on your Maldives adventure.
Our chef invites you into the kitchen for a hands-on experience learning how to create delicious local Maldivian dishes. Get ready to master fragrant curries, soft roti bread, and the art of fresh fish preparation.
Discover the secrets behind Maldivian spice blends that will have your taste buds dancing and bring a piece of the Maldives back to your kitchen. This is more than just a class; it’s a flavour-packed experience you won’t forget!
Bring your camera—because in the Maldives, it’s nearly impossible to take a bad photo. Whether you’re snapping turquoise waters, palm-fringed islands, vibrant sunsets, or capturing the bright culture and friendly locals, you’ll find endless inspiration to keep you engaged for hours.
Beneath the surface, marine life bursts with colour and variety, making underwater photography a must.
For adventurous photographers, surf and action shots offer another challenge. Try capturing surfers from the beach or surf boat, or if you have a waterproof camera and strong swimming skills, jump in and catch those epic in-water angles—the surfers will thank you for it!
Depending on our itinerary, there may be an opportunity to purchase a day pass and enjoy the luxuries of a private resort. Treat yourself to a relaxing massage, lounge by the pool, or savour a romantic private dinner with your partner—pure bliss in paradise.
Resort day passes range from $50 to $200 USD, depending on the resort and what’s included. Availability is subject to our cruising schedule and the resort’s policies at the time.
Take a break from adventure and immerse yourself in ultimate luxury—because you deserve it!
We love arranging visits to local primary schools or kindergartens, offering a wonderful way to meet the community and immerse yourself in the friendly, happy culture of the Maldives. These visits are often a highlight, providing meaningful connections with teachers and children.
If you’d like to make a donation, the kids and teachers are always grateful for sporting equipment such as tennis rackets, soccer balls, crayons, and pencils.
We encourage guests to buy supplies locally, either from a nearby island or in Malé. Not only does this support local businesses, but it also saves you the hassle of carrying items from home. Small gestures like these go a long way in making a positive impact.
