This is a trip with time on its side, specifically combining Wing Foiling with our SUP Surf trip – the two compliment each other and have become a popular cross-over to maximise water time.
If you Wing but don’t SUP Surf, or vice versa — that will work on this trip with two coaches on board and all the right support managing the two disciplines balanced.
If you Prone Foil — that is ok too, but not the priority and we do not have coaches on board for this. If you SUP Surf with prone foiling surfing as a back up it could work if you’re experienced. *Note – Prone Foil Surfing may not be allowed on some shared breaks for safety reasons.
Want to try Foil — this is not the focus but there will be opportunity for tow ups with our beginner foil set up and the jet-ski.

Why We Chose the Maldives for SUP Surfing
Before the Maldives, we spent years running SUP Surf Tours in Fiji. And while Fiji has some truly incredible waves, over time I realised it just didn’t fully align with what I wanted to deliver specifically for SUP surfers. Away from the main areas, Cloud Break, Restaurants etc good SUP waves are difficult to find.
SUP Surfing is different.
I’m looking for fuller waves, long rides, more wave count, less crowd pressure and the ability to move around with changing conditions. You need consistency, flexibility and access. I wanted a destination where we could build an entire experience around that philosophy — not just run another surf charter.
Then I stumbled across the Maldives… and eventually, the right boat.
That changed everything.
For the past decade we’ve dedicated ourselves almost entirely to SUP Surfing in the Maldives, and in our opinion there is simply no better place in the world for it.
Stretching nearly 850km from north to south and made up of 26 coral atolls scattered across the Indian Ocean, the Maldives is an incredibly unique country. It’s narrow, remote and almost entirely ocean. The beauty of it is that while the country stretches a huge distance north to south, many of the crossings from east to west can be done by boat in a single day.
That opens up enormous flexibility.
Depending on swell direction, wind and conditions, we can reposition quickly and continue searching for quality surf. Some seasons favour one side of an atoll, some favour another. Some days you wake up to ruler-edged offshore perfection. Other days the mission becomes exploring a new corner of reef or chasing a cleaner swell somewhere else entirely.
That’s why the boat matters so much.
And Adora has become a huge part of what makes these trips special.
She gives us the ability to move, adapt and explore properly — not just sit anchored in one place hoping conditions line up. That flexibility is one of the biggest reasons our trips consistently deliver quality surf across such a wide range of conditions and experience levels.
But the Maldives isn’t just about the waves.
Warm tropical water, endless reef atolls, crystal clear lagoons, marine life, incredible light, calm anchorages and the relaxed rhythm of life at sea all combine to create something that’s hard to explain until you experience it yourself. Over the years we’ve welcomed surfers from all around the world — Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Israel, France, England, Ireland, Switzerland, Portugal, Brazil, Canada, the USA and beyond. That international mix has become one of the things we’re most proud of. Lifelong friendships are formed on these trips.
Since the beginning we’ve also partnered with SUNOVA surfboards to offer a great range of high-performance Surf SUPs for hire onboard. For many guests that means travelling lighter and easier while still riding some of the best surf SUPs in the world.
At the end of the day, this was never about building a mass-market surf charter business.
It was about creating the kind of SUP surf adventure that we ourselves wanted to experience — small groups, great waves, quality equipment, flexibility, good people and a genuine connection to life on the ocean.
A decade later, that vision really hasn’t changed.
Waves & Seasons in the Maldives
The Maldives has quietly become one of the world’s great warm-water surf destinations.
While the same Southern Ocean swells that light up Indonesia also pulse through the Maldives, the waves here are often more approachable, with long reef walls, warm water and remarkably consistent conditions throughout the season.
What makes the Maldives truly special, however, is not just the quality of the waves — it’s the freedom to explore. With the right boat, local knowledge and flexibility, it’s still possible to find yourself surfing uncrowded reef passes with only a handful of friends in the lineup.

North Malé is the most established surf region in the Maldives and home to many of the country’s best-known waves. With its concentration of resorts, charter boats and surf infrastructure, it also sees the largest crowds.
When conditions align, the waves here can be exceptional — long mechanical walls, fast sections and heavy barrels wrapping across shallow reef.
South Malé offers a quieter alternative, with fewer crowds and a more relaxed pace as you move further from the capital.

The Central Atolls offer an incredible balance of consistency, variety and accessibility, with long peeling reef breaks spread across multiple atolls and exposed to a wide range of swell and wind directions.
Many of these waves are only accessible by boat, which is precisely what makes this region so special.
Rather than competing for crowded lineups, it’s often possible to surf with only a small crew trading waves across flawless reef passes in warm tropical water.
This is the Maldives experience we love most.

The Deep South offers a far more remote surf experience and can produce exceptional waves during the right windows.
However, stronger winds, greater travel logistics and limited SUP-friendly access make these regions less practical for most paddle surfers.
For this reason, we generally focus our attention further north, where the Central Atolls deliver more consistent and versatile conditions ideally suited to SUP surfing.

Bringing Your Own Board
If you already have a favourite board, we absolutely encourage you to bring it.
Many guests travel successfully with airlines including Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways and AirAsia, particularly with boards under 9’6.
For those bringing their own equipment, our onboard SUNOVA fleet remains available as backup should anything become damaged during the trip.

Terms and Conditions for Free Use of SUNOVA SUPs
Board Bond and Allocation
- A $100 USD board bond deposit is required, refundable at the end of the tour if the board is returned undamaged.
- If you bring your own board, our boards cannot be allocated as backups or for sole use. However, unallocated boards will be available for use or demo throughout the tour.
Board Usage and Availability
- Boards are subject to availability and may change without notice.
- Once allocated, the board will be yours for the entire trip. You may allow others to use it or swap boards, but you are fully responsible for the board throughout the tour.
- Treat the allocated board as your own and take care of it accordingly.
Board Damage Responsibility
- Inspect your board before use. If you notice any pre-existing damage, inform a Moon Tours representative immediately. If damage is found after use, The hirer is always responsible for the board for repair costs.
Repair Costs and Damage Policies
- Minor repairs during the trip will incur a minimum fee of $100 USD.
- If major repairs are required the minimum charge will be $200 USD.
- If the board is creased or snapped, it will be considered a write-off, and the allocated surfer will be responsible for paying the full second-hand market value of the board.
Responsibility for Damaged Boards
- The board is your responsibility for the entire tour, regardless of who uses it.
- If someone else damages your allocated board, you are still responsible for repair costs. It will be your choice to seek compensation from third parties if you believe they were at fault.
- Professional repairs are not always available in the Maldives. If minor damage occurs, we may perform temporary patchwork to keep you on the water, but this does not qualify as a professional repair.
These terms ensure the best experience for all surfers on the tour, helping us maintain our fleet and keep the stakes high throughout the journey. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

SUP Surf Adventures in the Maldives
Day One — Arrival in Paradise
Your journey begins the moment you land in the Maldives.
Guests are personally greeted by a Moon Tours or MY Adora representative just outside the international arrivals area before transferring to the yacht and beginning the adventure where we have the options of surfing North and South Male Atolls on the first day, before heading further South into the Central, and even Southern Atolls.
For guests arriving the day prior, we’re happy to assist with recommended accommodation options in Malé or Hulhumalé.
Boarding typically begins late morning from Malé Airport.
Important:
Guests should arrive in the Maldives before 12:30pm on Day One. If your flight arrives later, we recommend arriving a day early to ensure a smooth start to the trip.
If late arrivals cannot be avoided – no problem, just let us know.

Our 7 Night charters typically explore the Central Atolls, often including the beautiful Meemu region when conditions align.

With additional days comes greater freedom.
Our 10 Night+ expeditions allow us to travel further south, spend longer at each region and fully follow the best swell and wind conditions available throughout the journey.
When conditions align, we may venture as far as Laamu Atoll — maximising wave opportunities while exploring some of the Maldives’ most remote and beautiful surf regions.

Beyond North Malé
While many surf charters remain close to the famous North Malé breaks, we generally move beyond the crowded resort zones in search of quieter, more SUP-friendly waves.
Waves such as Jailbreaks, Sultans, Cokes and Honky’s are iconic for a reason — but they can also become heavily crowded with resort surfers, day boats and charter traffic.
Instead, our focus is the Central and Southern Central Atolls.
Here, boat-access reef passes deliver long walls, clean water and significantly fewer surfers — creating the kind of relaxed, uncrowded sessions that make Maldives SUP surfing truly special.
These regions offer playful, flowing waves ideal for SUP surfing and foiling, while still delivering enough power and shape to keep experienced surfers thoroughly entertained.

The Final Morning
Airport transfers are typically arranged around 9:00am on the final day, comfortably connecting with most international departures.
Flights departing after 1:00pm are generally ideal.
For guests requiring earlier departures, private speedboat transfers can usually be arranged. Late checkout options may also be available depending on the yacht schedule and group arrangements.

Fishing has long been the lifeblood of island nations, and the Maldives is no exception—widely regarded as one of the ‘fishiest’ places on the planet. While pelagic species are often the prime targets, the reefs and shallows are teeming with exciting game fish that will test your skills. Expect fierce encounters with Bonefish, Barracuda, Grouper, Snapper, and the king of fish, the Giant Trevally (GT)—for which heavy-duty gear is a must if you plan on hauling these beasts onto the boat.
Cruise the deep blue waters along the outer reefs, where Yellowfin Tuna, Dogtooth Tuna, Dolphin Fish, Wahoo, Sailfish, and Marlin roam. With the freedom to fish from all three boats and the enthusiastic support of our crew, anglers can fully embrace the thrill of fishing these bountiful waters. We have a couple of inflatable SUPs available for guests to use free of charge—perfect for a flat-water paddle, some exercise, or just fun off the back of the boat. 🏄♂️🌊
Please note: Inflatable SUPs in the Maldives take a beating. With the intense sun and heat, we’ve seen failures across multiple brands. While we aim to have them ready for your use, if they sustain damage and become unusable, it’s unlikely we’ll be able to repair them during the trip. We appreciate your understanding and will do our best to keep them available for as long as possible! ☀️🚤
Inhabited Local Islands 🌴🏃♂️
Step ashore and explore the charm of a local island with a relaxing walk or run. Most islands are small and easy to navigate, featuring sandy roads and tracks that can be circled in 20-30 minutes. Be sure to bring a water bottle and a few dollars, just in case you want to grab a snack or souvenir from a local store.
To respect the local Muslim culture, women should dress modestly, covering their shoulders and knees.
Uninhabited Islands 🏝️📚
Enjoy some downtime on a deserted, palm-fringed island, where you can stretch your legs with a beach stroll or run. Lay back in the sand with a good book, or do your part by collecting any plastic bottles that have washed ashore.
There’s no need to bring money here—bikinis and alcoholic beverages are welcome on uninhabited islands. Just remember to stay hydrated and bring a water bottle to keep cool under the tropical sun. ☀️🍹

Adora offers fully air-conditioned lounges with large flat-screen TVs, as well as in-room TVs for your personal enjoyment. Each TV is connected to an onboard entertainment system, showcasing a variety of movies and music. Resort day passes range from $50 to $200 USD, depending on the resort and what’s included. Availability is subject to our cruising schedule and the resort’s policies at the time.

If you’d like to make a donation, the kids and teachers are always grateful for sporting equipment such as tennis rackets, soccer balls, crayons, and pencils.
We encourage guests to buy supplies locally, either from a nearby island or in Malé. Not only does this support local businesses, but it also saves you the hassle of carrying items from home. Small gestures like these go a long way in making a positive impact. 🏀✏️

Each guest receives a USD $10 per night bar credit, which can be used toward beers, wines or soft drinks throughout the trip.
Additional beverages are charged to your cabin and settled onboard at the completion of the charter.
